In this Resource Monday episode of the Security Halt! Podcast, Deny Caballero spotlights Operation Tabletop, a veteran-led nonprofit founded by Seth Ewing that is tackling one of the biggest challenges facing the veteran community today—isolation.

Inspired by his own journey through grief after losing his brother, Seth discovered that tabletop gaming created opportunities for authentic conversations, friendship, and healing. Today, Operation Tabletop is bringing veterans, active-duty service members, and community members together through game nights that foster connection, belonging, and support.

As the organization expands beyond Northwest Florida and onto military installations across the country, every donation helps provide meals, tabletop games, and welcoming spaces where meaningful relationships can begin.

Resource Monday And Today’s Focus

SPEAKER_00

Welcome back to another Security Hall Podcast Resource Monday. And today I am highlighting Operation Tabletop. Operation

Seth Ewing’s Loss And The Spark

SPEAKER_00

Tabletop was founded by my good friend and brother, Seth Ewing. Now, Seth went through some difficult times in 2017 after the loss of his brother. And amidst that loss and through some trials and tribulations and thinking about how he could be more involved in helping others, he came up with the idea of bringing tabletop games to um the masses in a way that you could actually invoke community and have people sitting down talking and

How Tabletop Games Build Connection

SPEAKER_00

engaging. Because what he realized was, well, he was going through his own grief and his own loss, he was not connecting. He was not uh reaching out for help. But video games and tabletop games in particular were a way for him to get connected and talk and engage. He realized that if it worked for him, it could work for others. So that's the quick down and dirty behind Operation Tabletop.

Growth From Florida To More Bases

SPEAKER_00

Reality is there's way more to it. Now it's growing, it's expanding. The initial meetings were all around the Northwest Florida area and Hurlborough Field and Eglin. Now they're expanding the other Air Force bases. And pretty soon, I guarantee we're gonna be seeing this nationwide.

Why Small Recurring Donations Matter

SPEAKER_00

But like any other small nonprofit that's growing, that's scaling, they need our support. So if you're looking to get behind a nonprofit that's making a difference in their local community and expanding nationwide, now's your chance. Operation Tabletop could utilize your help, and they're not asking for 30K, 40K. They're asking for small donations. Now, what I've come to find out, and I share this often, uh, it's not always the $250,000 that make a difference in a nonprofit space. It's a recurring monthly donation. Something as simple as $6, $4 can really help them out. Because what Seth is asking for is support in buying pizza, buying a few new games. These are the realities of starting a nonprofit like this that's really focused on bringing people together, play

Local Impact And Self Led Game Nights

SPEAKER_00

a game. You'd be surprised at the difference that it's making. In the local Northwest Florida area, Seth has even seen individuals break out and create their own game nights, create their own miniature painting nights. This is a type of change and initiative that we need support. We're not trying to solve this problem of veteran isolation and veteran suicide through some giant nonprofit or corporate entity. No, we're trying to put the emphasis on the individuals to get out and connect. That's what's happening. And when you look at it, it's individuals like Seth and nonprofits like Operation Tabletop that are really making an impact in the local community because they're helping people help themselves, and in turn, they're going to help

Donate Or Share Operation Tabletop

SPEAKER_00

others. So in this down and out and quick and dirty episode of Resource Monday, I want you to do me a favor right now. Pause, go to the episode description, click the link, and donate today to Operation Tabletop. It can be $5, $4, even $2. I know times are tough and everybody is looking out for their family and for their well-being. But I will tell you right now, if there's a nonprofit out there that's working hard and doing everything they can to put together great events, it's Operation Tabletop. So it would mean a lot to me, and it would mean a lot to Seth and the individuals in Northwest Florida that are banding together to make these nights happen. If you would be willing to donate $25 for pizza, for drinks, or for a new tabletop game to help individuals in need of some community, it would mean a lot. So please pause the episode, click the links, support Operation Tabletop, or if you can't afford to give today, head on over to social media, head on over to their Instagram, and give them a like, give them a follow, and share it with somebody in the local area that can use their support. Thank you guys for tuning in. I'm Denny Caballero, and we'll see you next time on Security Out Podcasts. Until then, take care.
